QUALIFICATIONS & EQUIPMENT LIST
1.) MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
2.) PHYSICALLY FIT: Work requires strenuous, physical exertion for extended periods of time. This includes, but is not limited to the following: walking, climbing, chopping, throwing, lifting, pulling, and frequently carrying objects weighing 45 lb. or more. The employer shall not permit an employee with known heart disease, epilepsy, or emphysema to participate in activities at the emergency scene unless a physician’s certificate of the employees’ fitness to participate in such activities is provided. This shall not limit the employer’s ability to assign personnel to support activities (vs. fire suppression activities).
3.) MUST PASS THE AEROBICS TEST AT THE ARDUOUS LEVEL.
Fire Fighter -Pack Test of 45 lb. for 3 miles in 45 minutes or less
4.) CERTIFIED IN THE 32-HOUR BASIC WILDLAND FIRE TRAINING COURSE. (NWCG STANDARDS)
5.) PRIOR EXPERIENCE: CERTIFIED IN THE 24-HOUR REFRESHER FIRE ANNUAL TRAINING COURSE. (R-5 POLICY)
6.) EQUIPMENT: Furnished by the company for a deposit, or can be purchased by the individual.
a.) Fireline web gear
b.) Fire shelter
c.) Nomex yellow fire shirt
d.) Nomex green fire pants
e.) Hard hat
f.) Headlamp
g.) Goggles
7.) EQUIPMENT: Furnished by Employee
a.) One pair leather lace boots, 8 inches or higher w/ vibram soles (NO STEEL TOES)
b.) Leather gloves
c.) Sleeping bag (outdoor use)
d.) One-man dome or pup style tent. (Small & light weight)
e.) Soft, or flexible, canvas type bag (no hard suitcases)
f.) Personal hygiene & off duty clothes (toothpaste, shampoo, scarves, etc.)
***All fire undergarments must be 100% cotton for safety reasons.
g.) Sack lunch or non-perishable foods and 1 1/2 gallons of water, for the first 24 hours, after that, food and water will be provided unless the employee returns home every night, in which case the employee provides their own food and water for each shift.

__ a.) Past performance ratings (if you have prior experience) of any previous fires worked.
__ b.) Drug test results.
__ c.) Any performance Task Books you may have. (Should have obtained these from past
employers or from instructor of training class.)
